The Glider video was a early experimental attempt at creating an entirely procedurally generated landscapes

The project initially began as a exercise in learning the ropes and optimization strategies for a new class of GPU based render engines (at the time primarily this was the early release of the Octane render engine which was all the rage) Over time it morphed into entirely procedural based landscape concert visualization montage, with the end goal being loosely defined as trying to create a compelling concert visualization out of seemingly linear and relatively straightforward landscape pushes.  I basically wanted to take a very seemingly simple camera push combined with match cut alternating landscape shots, and attempt to make something interesting out of it by combining extremely simple kaleidoscopic effects, color overlays and scene blending. this eventually resulted in the Glider project that ts laid out in this page. 







By utilizing cinema 4d, WorldMachine, speedtree, the octane render engine and various photogrammetry scanned nature and assets from the megascans library We were able to produce a highly varied collection of landscape pushes of differing natural environments spanning from sandy deserts to snowy forests, misty jungles to dried up salt flats.






The piece is still very much a long term work in progress, with newer software and hardware and advances in large scale photogrammetry aiding it’s eventual completion.
